JUNIOR PROGRAM - UP TO AGE 12

The Junior Program is a parent-run program and is for homeschooled children under 12 years of age. The goal of the Junior Program is for our children to have a place to interact with other sweet kids and be exposed to the fun of learning about all the wonderful things in the world alongside friends. The Junior Program operates based on the philosophies of leadership education as taught in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver DeMille, and promotes a Christian worldview.  The Junior Program functions as the younger half of the commonwealth, Lighthouse Academy Scholar program, for kids 12 and up, and serves as a funnel into that group for those families who desire to continue on. The Junior Program is not a drop-off group.

GEORGICS - AGES 13+

Georgics is a Practice Scholar project. The purpose of Georgics is to give students the tools to take ownership of their own education by studying the principles of Georgics: providence, self-validation, mission, land ownership, community stewardship, local interdependence, and entrepreneurialism. Scholars become homesteaders and take charge of their own education and their lives.

SHAKESPEARE CONQUEST - AGES 12+

Shakespeare Conquest is an amazing, two-semester Practice Scholar project that inspires students to study the works of the greatest poet-philosopher of all time. During the first semester, students study a Shakespeare tragedy in depth through weekly reading assignments, in-class discussions, and opinion papers. Other assignments include memorization and giving a presentation on an Elizabethan era topic. During the second semester, students will have several weeks of actor’s training while studying one of Shakespeare’s comedies. Then they delve into Shakespeare even further by preparing and performing the play they just studied.

Through Quest, students will awaken their sense of personal mission and ignite their passion to pay the price for a great education. The mentor takes students through the study of great leadership in history, using original documents and intensive essay and research writing.
